Am Gipfel der Weinwelt

Die Region Bordeaux gilt seit dem Mittelalter als Inbegriff für höchste Weinkultur. Bordeauxweine werden systematisch auf den besten Lagen angebaut und kunstvoll assembliert.

Ein Qualitätsmerkmal ist die „Appellation“, welche Aussagen über Herkunft und Produktion liefert. Daneben gibt es eine traditionelle Klassifikation der besten Weine in fünf „Crus“. Diese galt ab 1855 zunächst nur im Médoc, wurde aber später von anderen Anbaugebieten übernommen.

Keine offizielle Klassifikation gibt es heute nur im Pomerol, welches jedoch die Heimat des wohl teuersten Bordeaux „Château Petrus“ ist.

On top of the wine world

The vineyards of Bordeaux have been synonymous with fine wine since the Middle Ages. Carefully cultivated in the best locations, the grapes produced are painstakingly turned into fine wine.

The ‘appellation’ seal of quality provides information about the origin and the production of the wine. In addition, the traditional classification into five ‘Crus’ is applied to the best wine. Originally applied in Médoc from 1855 onwards, this classification was later adopted by other wine growing areas.

The only area not to apply an official classification to this day is Pomerol, home to the most expensive Bordeaux, the ‘Château Petrus’.
