Das Park Hotel Vitznau

Mit schlossartiger Monumentalität setzt 1901 bis 1903 der Architekt Karl Gottlieb Koller für den Hotelpionier Josef Anton Bon einen Hotelbau der Belle Époque in die mythische zentralschweizer Seen- und Berglandschaft. Bereits 1906 und 1909 fertigt Koller Skizzen zu Erweiterungen an. In den 1930er Jahren werden im Erdgeschoss geräumigere Gästebereiche geschaffen.

1966 kommt im Nordostteil ein halboffenes Schwimmbecken hinzu. Ab 1968 ist Peter Bally Besitzer und bis 1984 Direktor. Nach der Übernahme des Hotels durch die Oetker-Gruppe, 1980, erfolgen grosse Eingriffe. Die “Pension du Parc“, ehemals “Pension Pfyffer“, eröffnet 1867, weicht der Südost-Erweiterung -Architekt Cäsar Pinnau-, 1985|86, die in der Formensprache Kollers fortgeführt wird. Die Modernisierung 1987|89 und das Errichten eines Zimmertraktes oberhalb des Schwimmbeckens, 1992, bringen noch mehr Grosszügigkeit. 2006|07 erfolgt eine weitere Renovation.

Ende 2009 beginnt der Gesamtumbau zum 5-Stern Superior Hotel: Neue Suiten, Residenzen, ein Spa, ein Medical Center, die Verlinde-Residenz und das Auditorium im Westen. Der Eingangsbereich, die Halle und die Säle werden im neoklassizistischen Stil restauriert. Mit dem Gourmet- und Pavillon-Restaurant, zwei Bars, dem Fumoir und weitläufigen Weinkellern wird hochstehende Gastronomie celebriert.

Ein Finanzinstitut mit kleiner Uni setzt im grossvolumenen Dachgeschoss weitere Akzente. Der umgestaltete kleine Park wird mit einen Brunnen bereichert.

The Park Hotel Vitznau

Built between 1901 and 1903 by the architect Karl Gottlieb Koller for the hotel pioneer Josef Anton Bon, this palatial monument to the Belle Époque is set in the legendary lake and mountains of Central Switzerland. By 1906 and 1909, Koller was already preparing plans for further work to the hotel.

In the 1930s, spacious guest areas were created on the ground floor and 1966 saw the creation of a half open swimming pool in the northeast part of the hotel. In 1968, Peter Bally bought the hotel and remained Director until 1984. In 1980, the hotel was taken over by the Oetker group and major work ensued. The ‘Pension du Parc’, known as the ‘Pension Pfyffer’ at the time of its opening in 1867, gave way to an extension by the architect Cäsar Pinnau, continuing in Koller’s style, on the southeastern side in 1985-86.

Modernisation work in 1987-89 and the creation of the bedroom wing above the pool in 1992 added even more flair, style and space, while further renovations took place in 2006-07.

The end of 2009 saw the start of the complete transformation into the 5 star superior hotel of today, with new suites, residences, spa, medical centre, the Verlinde residence and an auditorium in the west wing. The entrance, lobbies and halls were restored in neo-classic style. The hotel’s gourmet and pavilion restaurants, two bars, fumoir and extensive wine cellars have made the Park Hotel Vitznau synonymous with outstanding gastronomy.

Furthermore, the spacious top floor under the roof is home to a financial institute with university connections.

The hotel’s small park has been redesigned and a fountain added.
